Safety

The main cause for which children cannot leave their home alone is the danger in the streets. The traffic, pollution and the presence of dangerous people lead adults to believe that it is impossible for a child to go out alone and play with his/her friends. The defense measures foresee, at an individual level, various forms of "fortification" such as armour-plated door and alarm systems on the one hand and constantly accompanying the child and his/her remote control equipment on the other: from the cellular phone to the satellite tracing bracelet. At the social level there is an ever increasing demand for public defense, a more intensive presence of the police, video cameras in public areas, private police, individual weapons. But these instruments have always revealed themselves to be ineffective and absolutely damaging to citizen's rights, especially those of the most defenseless who in situations of extreme defense are condemned to being confined to their homes.
The alternative is participation, the social "occupation" of public areas.
