Participation

A fundamental tool needed for rebuilding a serene and favourable environment for children is to ask for their contribution, call them to collaborate towards a real change in the urban environment. The participation of children is useful and advantageous if two fundamental conditions are met. The first: the adult that invites the children to participate must be convinced that the children can give a real contribution, be willing to take it into consideration and therefore have a real need for their help. The second: the adult that invites the children to participate must have the authority needed to honor the commitment taken on. The school can take part, by means of certain aspects of its organization, and the family too, with regards to many decisions to be taken.
The city, by means of its administrator can collaborate by means of some decisions, starting from those linked to the children's needs as, for example, the restructuring of areas, settings, fittings and equipment or the problems related to pedestrian mobility. By means of the correct forms of participation, the children conduct coherent and important experiences of being citizens that contribute to the well being of all those around them.
