Direct Involvement Planning
Objectives
At a time when it is difficult to involve young people in City life and in which their most frequent reaction is that of disinterest and vandalism, it is important to involve children and youngsters in roles where they are protagonists. In this way they can become the "authors" of their own city. Children and youngsters will develop a strong sense of belonging, responsibility and citizenship.
The restructured areas, thanks to the children's contribution, are more easily recognized, respected and defended both by the youngsters and the inhabitants in the neighbourhood (their children did it).
The work done must be aimed at giving value to the originality of the children's proposals made possible by the adult technician. The task of the adult is, therefore, not that of teaching children how to plan but how to make their ideas realizable, especially the most innovative ones.
