The Children's Council
One of the richest and most significant forms of child participation is that of the Children's Council. It comes from the conviction, on the part of the Mayor and the Administrators, that children can correctly and effectively contribute to a better City government. The Mayor of Rome, Veltroni, inaugurating the first Children's Council on November 20, 2001 said: "I need your advice, your help. It seems that adults forget what it was like when they were children. They don't remember the important things necessary for living a better life during that time of one's life and that they do not remember the dreams, wishes and hopes you have when you have your whole life ahead of you. Starting today we will begin to work together because we want to change the City."
